TIMBER DESIGN PER 1997 NDS

Timber Design can be used to design entire structures or single members (joists, beams, columns and studs) using the full range of wood products: lumber, sawn timber and glulam.

 

Wood Beam Design

  • Input parameters include lateral bracing, deflection limits, notch dimensions.
  • Species, grade, width, thickness and number of plys may all be specified as ‘unknown’ in the input.
  • Code check can be performed.
  • Choose from sawn lumber, heavy timber or glulam libraries.

Wood Column Design

  • Designs timber/multi-ply columns and studs in load-bearing situations for axial and biaxial bending.
  • Species, grade, width, thickness and number of plys may all be specified as ‘unknown’ in the input.
  • Code check can be performed.
